Your chiropractor will tailor a care plan to your specific condition and goals; for some patients this may include myofascial release therapy.
What It Does
Adhesions are scar tissues that build up in the fascia (the covering of the muscles). These adhesions can affect the ability of the muscle or joint to move normally, resulting in loss of mobility and other dysfunction.

Myofascial release uses a metal tool that is scraped over the affected area. When we feel grittiness below the skin, we know there are adhesions in that area. The scraping action helps to break up these adhesions very effectively.
Who It’s For
This therapy is often recommended for patients with tendinitis, golfer’s or tennis elbow, knee issues, plantar fasciitis, as well as other conditions.
We also suggest it as an alternative to dry needling for patients who have a phobia around needles, as it offers similar physiological effects in the fascia.
What to Expect
We’ll bring you to a private therapy room for your session and apply a gel to the skin of the affected area to allow the tool to scrape smoothly and comfortably. We’ll scrape the area for about three minutes, breaking up the adhesions in that area.
Since we need to work directly on your skin, we ask that you wear clothing that allows us to access the affected area (such as shorts or tank tops).
We’ll combine your therapies and adjustments at the same visit to make it convenient for you, and you’ll usually be in and out within 30 minutes total.
Myofascial release is not covered by insurance.
